2017 - Time to change.
If you don’t like where you are, change. You’re not a tree. No one has rooted you into your patterns, and now it is time to take that first necessary step toward success.
What is the first step? I’m glad you asked! Starting today you are going to confront one tiny behavior that keeps you where you are, and you are going to ask yourself how you can change, tweak, and/or adjust it in some way that will ultimately lead you down the road toward reaching your goal. You are going to make the choice to change; instead of make excuses as to why you cannot change.
I talk a lot about the importance of goal setting. As a matter of fact, I think I may have used (and probably will many more times in the future) that exact sentence in previous blogs. Goal setting is the key: Plain and simple. If you have a goal, you have a direction, and visa-versa. Once you have that goal set in your mind, today becomes your starting point and every decision you make will either be a step toward that goal, a step backwards from reaching that goal, or no change in direction whatsoever (which ultimately just prolongs you reaching your goal, so you can consider it a step backwards for all intents and purposes).
I know it sounds harsh, but the reality is that only you have the power to change you. No one is going to do it for you. Once you make the decision to change, there are plenty of resources at your fingertips to aid you in the process, but you have to decide when and how to utilize them.
You cannot pour from an empty cup… if you do not take care of yourself first, you will not be able to give everything you need to give where you need to give it.
I can continue to ramble off clichés, but I am pretty sure three is enough. You get the point. So I ask you, and you need to ask yourself: Are you ready? This may be the hardest question to answer. I’m sure you can come up with a laundry list of goals, but are you ready to get out of your comfort zone and make them happen?
